Intersecting Practices: assessing the role and impact of contemporary art in heritage spaces INTERNSHIP

I'm at the beginning of a new project working with Pavilion, the Bronte Parsonage, and Huddersfield University.

This project is going to explore the role and impact of contemporary art in heritage spaces, through a series of visits, interdisciplinary workshops and seminars.

Thanks to the funding we've received from the Creative and Cultural Industries Exchange, University of Leeds there is the opportunity for an MA or PhD student to work with us as an intern between end of Feb and May.

I'll be posting more information about the project as we get going, in the meantime, if you are interested in the internship, drop me an email and I'll send you the details.

Contemporary Art and Heritage Event Hosted by Pavilion @ University of Leeds

I've been asked by Pavilion to speak at an event with a focus on the relationship between visual art and heritage. I'll be speaking about my research into the Contemporary Art Programme at the Bronte Parsonage. Details are:
On January 22nd, Pavilion will host a knowledge sharing event looking at the relationship between visual art and heritage. The event will be an opportunity for interested artists and curators across the region to come together and explore issues relating to impact, funding and models of practice. The event will explore the political potential of art across a range of heritage settings and the way contemporary art can investigate, illuminate but also counter narratives relating to heritage.
The event will take place 2-4pm at the International Textiles Archive at the University of Leeds and will include short presentations by Jill Winder (ULITA), Linzi Stauvers (Pavilion), Daniel Cutmore (Arts Council England), Patrick Eyres (New Arcadian Journal), Harold Offeh (Leeds Metropolitan University) and Nick Cass (University of Leeds), followed by an opportunity for participants to share knowledge, ideas and practices.
The event will follow on from previous sector discussions, including Meeting Point: Engaging the Heritage Audience, delivered by Arts and Heritage in 2013 and supports Arts Council England’s strategic work to develop a sustainable relationship between the arts and heritage sectors.
